Event Title:

Tech Days!: Problem-Solving and Creativity with Code, AI, and Robotics (Grades 6–8)

By the End of These Workshops, You Will Be Able To:

    • Write basic Python programs using Turtle Graphics to draw creative patterns and shapes.
    • Understand how Artificial Intelligence (AI) impacts our daily lives and experiment with tools like Teachable Machine.
    • Design and build your own video game in Scratch, complete with scoring, characters, and interaction.
    • Build and program simple robots using VEX Robotics, learning about engineering and automation.
    • Explore data storytelling using Google Sheets to analyze and visualize information through charts and graphs.

    What to Expect:

This intermediate-level STEM workshop offers engaging sessions that blend creativity, logic, and hands-on building:

    • Session 1: Intro to Python: Drawing with Code (Turtle Graphics)
Learn basic Python syntax and programming concepts by coding creative shapes and artwork.
    • Session 2: AI in Everyday Life
Discover how AI works in things like Siri, Alexa, and facial recognition. Try it yourself using Google’s Teachable Machine.
    • Session 3: Game Development with Scratch
Build a playable game with levels, points, and characters using Scratch and block-based logic.
    • Session 4: Introduction to Robotics (VEX Robotics)
Collaborate in teams to build and program VEX robots to complete tasks or challenges.
    • Session 5: Data Storytelling with Google Sheets
Turn numbers into insights—use real-world data to create colorful charts and graphs that tell a story.

Each session is instructor-led and designed to foster critical thinking, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of how technology works.

    Who Should Attend:

    • Students in Grades 6–8 who are curious about programming, robotics, AI, or data.

No previous programming or robotics experience is needed—just creativity and enthusiasm!

    What’s Included:

    • Full access to all five workshop sessions.
    • Use of laptops, robotics kits, and AI tools (e.g., Google Teachable Machine).
    • Student-created projects to take home or share online.
    • Printable Python code examples and data visualization guides.
